Dear Waffles,
I like you in the morning, you make the perfect breakfast when covered in sweet honey or creamy Nutella. I like you with some freshly squeezed orange juice or maybe a steaming cup of tea.
I like you in the afternoon with the nectar of the gods (ie. hot chocolate), and in the evening for dessert. I prefer when you are crunchy on the outside and smooth on the inside. You are worth waking up half an hour earlier than my usual routine.
Please be nice to my hips.
Yours truly,
Tania.
I have found 'the perfect waffle' recipe. It's quick and easy, and oh so delicious. I gave mine an autumnal twist by adding a teaspoon of 'allspice' and another one of vanilla extract.
Recipe : (copied word for word from Dine and Dish)
- 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 beaten egg yolks
- 1 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 stiff, beaten egg whites
- Beat egg whites until stiff. Beat in sugar and set aside.
- Combine together dry ingredients.
- Combine egg yolks and milk. Beat in dry ingredients. Add oil and beat until blended.
- Fold in egg whites (do not overmix)
- Bake in preheated waffle iron.
Like all waffles they are perfect with jam or icing sugar, honey, Nutella, fresh fruits, melted chocolate and whipped cream... you name it.
Please do me a favour and make some for your lover/sister/kids over the weekend, they will be delighted. I'm off to make my third batch this week (yes, there is a danger - your family will like them SO much they will request them all week long..)

Hi, Your blog is so incredibly beautiful - the writing, the photos, the layout.. I have been wondering for a while what camera do you use? I especially love the pictures for the lemon drizzle cake and this waffle post.

Thank you SO much Elizabeth! I am currently using my Sony DSC-H20. It's a great little camera! Although I am looking into buying a more professional DSLR one.. :) but all of the photos on my blog have been taken with the Sony! Take care x
ReplyDeleteThese look incredible!
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to France, it's always necessary to indulge in a 'gaufre', but now I guess I can do it from my own home!
Thank you for sharing the recipe, I'm sure I won't be able to prevent myself from giving it a go X

Ah les gaufres!! They are seriously dangerous, so yummy you will want them for breakfast lunch and dinner. X
ReplyDeleteDid you put a sprig of lavender on that waffle? Because if so, I think I might have to come over and help you eat them! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are getting more beautiful by the post!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images doll! I adore waffles probably because my family was a pancake family so I never ate waffles much. Still to this day I love waffles. Funny how things that form from our childhoods.
